For a many years, especially 2010’s, it was well known that billiards was somewhat of a dying sport. But doesn’t anyone have evidence this has turned around?
A few reasons why I bring it up. First it appears that sponsors like matchroom have a lot of money to invest in the sport, and are investing ever more as the years go by. Events are looking polished, there are more of them, and player caliber is increasing around the world. Second, equipment prices just keep going up, with predator, cuetec and others seemingly making good money off the back of a new generation of products. Third, having come from China just recently, the emerging markets appetite for the game seems very strong with new locations opening often and at higher quality.
What do you think? Anyone seen evidence of this?
