The purpose of this post is to set your expectations if you’re looking to start playing Black Desert Online. This company has terrible business practices and has some of the worst customer support I have ever seen. Not a single ticket that I have raised has been a positive experience. Customer support only sends you generic template answers “explaining” why they “can’t” or rather wont help you.
In the most recent incident, I was robbed by this unscrupulous company whereby I had purchased a name change coupon and changed my name. 3 weeks later, my name was changed to TEMPNAME. Upon reaching out to customer support I was informed that my name was confusing to other adventurous and was therefore changed to TEMPNAME. The SEA region allows Thai characters to be used in names and I would argue that any Thai character would be confusing to a non Thai speaker. Why allow something that is not inline with your own operational policies? The main issue with this is, if I want to change it ill have to PURCHASE another name change coupon. I am absolutely disgusted by this organization.
The grinding consists of running in circles one shoting mobs for hours on end only to have your progress wiped clean with absolutely garbage and statically impossible bad RNG. Having played this game, on and off, for 3 years I am certain that there is no chance or RNG involved in the already mundane and insanely boring game play that it offers. Instead what you get is a time gate. Even if you’re enhancing your gear with very high chances and volume you will fail and come to a fixed net gain because the system identifies that you have progressed too much in a day and evens your gains out so that you get no advantage over other players who have invested the same amount of time and money in this game. Drop rates are also false and are frankly it is statistically impossible to grind for 10 hours a day and have the same amount of rare drops and gains as someone who only grinded 2 - 3 hours.
The quests are absolute trash and the only thing remotely entertaining about this game is the PVP aspect, such as large scale wars and open world PVP. However, the servers are so trash that you have to put up with terrible de-sync and constant game crashes. Asking Pearl Abyss to assist with diagnosing the issue is absolutely pointless as they will arbitrarily blame your hardware. I have a 13700k, RTX3090, DDR5 RAM, 1000w PSU and spared no expense on my machine only to have this trash game constantly crash.
Do yourself a favor and and just don’t bother with this piece of garbage and don’t listen to the bots that are going to comment on this post. I made that mistake and wasted so much time on this trash.
